But it has a solution: a domestic water softener.

Water with too much lime and magnesium is harmful to our pocket.
Do you know that a water softener can reduce considerably the amount of lime that circulates through the pipes of your house?

How the water softener works

Decalcification is a process that allows the uptake of calcium and magnesium particles contained in water. These particles give rise to lime deposits that accumulate on the walls of the bathrooms, on the tableware, or on the mechanical parts of household appliances. They are also responsible for the raspy feeling of skin and hair after showering.

The water softener has 3 parts:

– a bottle that contains the exchange resin to attract positive ions, such as calcium and magnesium

– a valve that controls the regeneration

– a salt deposit, since the use of sodium chloride is necessary to carry out this whole process.

The decalcification process consists of an ion exchange through resins that trap the calcium and magnesium ions present in the water. The next step is regeneration, where the water with excess lime is redirected to the drain through the valve. The regeneration can be produced by timers or can be controlled based on the volume of water that passes through the system.

Latest technology for the best performance

Each time a regeneration occurs, a rejection of water with lime not suitable for drinking is generated, so it is discarded. However, each time the water softeners are more efficient and economical, since they are designed to take advantage of the maximum amount of water using the least amount of salt.

There are 2 types of decalcifiers based on their type of regeneration:

Co-current: the most traditional model.

Counter-current: designed to generate a lower salt consumption.

The remaining water treated, with reduced calcium and magnesium, is now ready to be consumed. Having no hardness, will not cause the effects that everyone knows of calcium deposition in the faucets, dry hair, skin problems due to the hardness of water, etc …

Not all water softeners are the same because not all houses are the same. The water consumption in each house will be decisive when deciding which is the most appropriate water softener.
